Al Ain is a small city of seven oasis that have grown together over time. Sheikh Zayed, the father of the nation and founder of the UAE, used to live here before becoming the ruler of Abu Dhabi and President of the country. The drive leads us through beautiful desert landscapes until we reach the greenest town in the UAE situated at the base of the Hajjar mountains. A perfect opportunity to explore rural country life and the history of the Emirati people right at the root. We visit the Al Jahili Fort and its exhibition of photographs taken by Wilfred Thesinger, who lived with the Bedouins of the area in the 1940s. 
During a stroll across the traditional market we mingle with the locals, sample some dates and learn about herbal medicine, local fish, fruits and vegetables. During a walk through Al Ain Oasis, a UNESCO World Heritage site we witness the ancient Al Falaj Canals for irrigation and enjoy the beauty and the shade of thousands of date palm trees that have been cultivated here for thousands of years. Before our drive back, we stop for lunch in a traditional Emirati restaurant.
